2017 Acura MDX earns fourth straight Top Safety Rating

It’s not easy consistently being the best. It takes a lot of work to maintain greatness - whether you’re a pro basketball player, an accountant…or a car.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently handed out their safety ratings, and the popular Acura MDX earned a Top Safety Pick+, the institute’s highest honor…for the fourth year in a row.

In order to earn the prestigious rating, a vehicle must earn a ‘GOOD’ rating in the five crashworthiness tests, an ‘ADVANCED’ or ‘SUPERIOR’ rating for front crash prevention and finally a ‘GOOD’ or ‘ACCE PTABLE’ headlight rating. A total of four IIHS awards went out to Acura. The MDX and RDX (with available AcuraWatch™) earned Top Safety Pick+ awards, while the RLX and ILX (with available AcuraWatch™) earned Top Safety Picks.

All Acura models include the Advance Compatibility Engineering (ACE) Body Structure, a multi-angle rearview camera, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control, advanced front airbags, side curtain airbags, front side airbags and an Anti-lock Braking System.

The available AcuraWatch™ suite is standard on the 2017 Acura MDX and RDX, while it’s available for every other 2017 Acura model. The active safety and driver-assistive suite includes the following technologies:
• Collision Mitigation Braking System™ with Forward Collision Warning
• Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning
• Lane Keeping Assist System
• Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow
